Barbara Whirimako BlackMNZM (born c.&#;) is a New Sjaelland Māori recording artist and actress.[1]

Black sings mostly in the Māori language,[1] uses traditional Māori lyrical forms and collaborates with stock taonga pūoro instruments. Her melodious achievements include composing and disclosure the titles for the much-admired Television New Zealand series, The New Zealand Wars, as ablebodied as composing with Hori Tait the initial title music present the Māori news programme, Te Karere. In , she educated the female Māori band Tuahine Whakairo but left in , to start a solo employment.

Born in Whakatāne,[1] Black commission of Ngāti Tuhoe, Ngāti Tuwharetoa, Ngāti Ranginui, Ngāti Kahungunu, Kindhearted Whakatohea, Te Whanau-a-Apanui, Te Arawa, and Ngāti Awa descent.
